DEME MILNE

Deme Milne is a Sydney Australian singer/songwriter. She has been singing since before she could talk and made her performance debut at eight years old at the Jam Club in Newtown. After singing covers from artists such as Amy Winehouse, Adele, Andra Day and Ed Sheeran, at ten, she performed her first original song to a packed venue in Redfern.

 

It is hard to categorise Deme’s music under a singular genre. Whilst lyrically and structurally they may mirror a folk pop breakup belt, the likes of Adele and Sam Smith, her tone of voice and emotive piano playing gives it a jazz twist, unearthing her rich roots in the genre.

 

Her music is a cathartic experience for both the artist and the listener; the struggles of the human experience documented from an introspective young woman.

 

To see her live is to re-live your own experiences of pain, loss and love; while she makes herself vulnerable to the audience through her vocal abilities and gentle accompaniment on piano.
